There is perhaps nothing more natural than talking about business in America. America has always been the consumerist capital of the world. The ideology of capitalism is very powerful. The intoxicating idea that anyone can make something for themselves is something anyone would love to believe in.

But the fact is this idea is not really true. Not everyone can rise up from their situations and there are people, mostly in the third world who are in dire straits. One living in a country such as ours might think that we have nothing at all to do with the problems of other countries. This is a most pleasant fiction to live by. History tells us just how much our country has profited from sucking the life out of these third world countries’ economies.
