Elements of an Ideal E-learning Environment

When I was at University a few years back, e-learning was introduced to the students via the CWTS (Community Welfare Training System) course, which is mandated in the educational system. It was still a new innovation and quite disorienting to majority of the students, including myself. I didn’t have a very good opinion of e-learning back then which was evident in my dismal test scores. It’s only until recently that I’ve reflected on the possible rationale behind my distaste since I am currently considering taking an online course. I had to do a little bit of research, of course, and I encountered a couple of articles that talked about e-learning. The article that caught my attention was a piece done on the establishment of an e-learning environment that’s conducive to teaching and learning.

The success of elearning depends on a lot of factors, one of them being the learning environment. Like in a traditional classroom setting, the best learning environments nurture excellent motivation, comprehension and increased efficiency in learners or students. There are a number of certain elements that need to be cohesively integrated in order to create an ideal e-learning environment. Such elements include the following: organizational or classroom culture, e-learning maturity and strategy, resources, technology, subject matter expertise, instructional design, user interface and support systems. Each element tackles separate entities that focus on specific aspects that can either lead to accomplishment or failure. The proper individual management and successful integration of all of these elements guarantee the successful implementation and utilization of e-learning whether it’s for a business venture or educational purposes.

As I try and recall the role of each element in my past e-learning experience, I realize that the mismanagement or lack of one or a couple of these elements contributed to my negative stand regarding the matter. It is thus valuable to consider that the e-learning environment affects learning in such a way that it gravely affects, or even determine, the student’s ability to comprehend and internalize given information from the provided content which is highly dependent on quality, technology, delivery and accessibility.

Overcoming Language Barriers with E-learning Tools

It is such a relief that there is an internationally recognized official language for communicating in education, business, science and government. The global use of English has saved mankind from the trouble of deciphering sign language and hassling nonverbal communication because of the diversity of languages and dialects in the world. People are assured that there is less misinterpretation and misunderstanding in important discourses and deals.

However, despite the recognition of English and its use in different countries, there are still a lot of people who are limited by their lack of proficiency in the language, which is quite a disadvantage because it is an accepted reality that having mastery of English can help pave the way towards success.

Overcoming barriers is really a difficult challenge. There are some people who find it difficult to adjust to new languages because of the strength of their accents and the great differences with how words are used, sentences structured, and nonverbal cues interpreted. This hindrance actually posed as a huge problem in education because how can you teach your language to person who has no clue what you are saying?

It’s a good thing that there are elearning tools that put E-learning ahead in the industry of education because of the availability and accessibility of language learning tools online. These tools, such as LessonWriter and Digital Dialects, can help students supplement their learning with translation programs and so on. Different companies and organizations are not limited to students who mainly speak English, because through these applications, foreign students who are unfamiliar or not proficient in English can translate the content material and in turn, learn their lessons.

E-learning tools are becoming more and more efficient and specific as they address the different needs of their students, both locally and internationally. The world of education has been revolutionized, opening its doors to diversity.

On Noynoy Aquino and the Assassination Rumor

Since is just about that time in the Philippine season, we are once again about to ask ourselves just who should we vote now that the election is nearing. At the moment, the leading candidates are Noynoy Aquino and Manny Villar. But according to the most recent surveys, it is Noynoy Aquino who is leading the race.

Right now, there is a big a rumor about the possible and likely assassination plot against Noynoy this is probably spread out by Noynoy’s camp because the obvious image or idea this evokes will be the same outcry and anger that the united Filipino people into revolt once before.

As the rumor goes, this assassination plot is supposed to create the way for another martial law era that will enable the current president Arroyo to stay in power by permanently and indefinitely delaying the coming presidential elections. This will also give her, as the rumor goes, a chance to increase her popularity and power (though obviously not because the Filipino people hate being put under martial law ever since Marcos did it).

The rumor is starting to spread into the middle tiers of Philippine society. And indeed it cannot simply be dismissed because there are real solid reasons why this assassination may take place. There is now a growing concern for the safety of Noynoy Aquino through the election days.
